Positive effects of the project “CONSTRUCTION OF WASTEWATER COLLECTION AND DRAINAGE SYSTEM ZABOK DRAINAGE SYSTEM AND ZLATAR DRAINAGE SYSTEM

On May 7th, a press release was sent out emphasizing the positive impact of the Project in preserving environmental protection and improving water utility infrastructure and preserving water purity for future generations in the Krapina-Zagorje County.
By the decision of the Government of the Republic of Croatia of July, 27th 2017, the Project was declared as a strategic investment project of the Republic of Croatia. The project is carried out in accordance with the positive legal regulations of the Republic of Croatia.
The project “Construction of wastewater collection and drainage system of Zabok drainage system and drainage system Zlatar” envisages the construction of a total of 167 km of new gravity collectors, 4.73 km of pressure pipelines, 60 pumping stations, 53 overflows and other hydraulic structures, 78 crossings, 5,875 preparations for house connections and rehabilitation of 12.35 km of the existing collector. The construction of two large wastewater treatment plants (UPOV Zabok 36,940 ES and UPOV Zlatar Bistrica 14 690 ES, III stage of treatment) and a plant for solar sludge drying are planned.

The investor and user of this Project is Zagorski vodovod d.o.o.

The project includes the towns of Zabok, Oroslavje, Donja Stubica and Zlatar and the municipalities of Veliko Trgovišće, Bedekovčina, Sveti Križ Začretje, Mače, Stubičke Toplice, Gornja Stubica, Marija Bistrica, Zlatar Bistrica, Konjščina and Lobor.
In terms of positive effects, the construction of a new public drainage system and two wastewater treatment plants will contribute to improving the utility standard, significantly reducing the risk of groundwater pollution, improving health, health and environmental conditions in the area, preserving water quality Krapina and other watercourses in its catchment area.
The construction of two wastewater treatment plants will treat all collected wastewater from the public drainage system and collected wastewater from septic tanks from the entire final agglomeration of Zabok and the agglomeration of Zlatar.
The project will contribute to increasing the connection to the public sewerage and wastewater treatment system for approximately 10,000 households: The construction of the system envisages an increase in the population connection in the Zabok agglomeration from 50% to 88% and in the Zlatar agglomeration from 33% to 79%, including 100% industry connection.
The Grant Agreement and the Project Co-financing Agreement define the total estimated value of the Project in the amount of HRK 598,099,185.26, the total eligible costs are estimated in the amount of HRK 478,479,348.21, of which EU grants are awarded Zagorski vodovod d.o.o. as the Beneficiary amount to HRK 321,355,962.44, which is the largest possible amount of co-financing of the total estimated value of eligible expenditures of the Project.
The project is co-financed by the Operational Program Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014-2020. European Regional Development Fund.

The Project implementation period is from January 1st, 2014 to June 30th, 2023.
