World Water Day was celebrated as part of the Zabok and Zlatar Aglomeration project

On March 22, a press conference and educational event was held at the Zabok Water Treatment Plant as part of the project “Construction of the collection and drainage of waste water from the Zabok drainage system and the Zlatar drainage system” for 60 students of the Zabok Primary School who listened to a lecture on waste water management and toured the water treatment plant.

As the impact of climate change increases and the population grows, the United Nations calls for unity around water availability and the positioning of water as a means of peace and stability, therefore this year’s theme for World Water Day is “Water for Peace”.

More than 3 billion people in the world get their water outside the borders of their country, which can cause numerous problems. That is why countries must cooperate with each other in the distribution of water and thereby encourage societies to move towards prosperity and that water is primarily used for peacetime purposes. Croatia is rich in water, and spring waters make up 12% of our waters. It is extremely important to preserve them and that is why we are implementing the Zabok and Zlatar Agglomeration project in order to increase the quality of surface and underground waters and leave a pledge for the future to our children. said the director of Zagorski Vodovod, Mr. Mario Mihovilić.

As for the Project itself, in the fall of this year, the completion of all construction works that are currently in various stages of completion is expected: Donja Stubica, Gornja Stubica and Lobor are almost finished, 40% is still left in Zabok, 20% in Oroslavje, Sv. Začretje Cross has another 10%, and overall, the entire Project is currently at 75% completion. This summer, the trial operation of the wastewater treatment plant is also expected. The event ended with games in which children competed in tug-of-war, sack jumping and relay.
